Marina Delpha

Hello and welcome! I'm Marina, a Functional Nutrition and Genetic Health Counselor. I help people of all ages connect with the wisdom of their genes and the healing science of nature so they can live with purpose and thrive.

Within each of us lies a natural intelligence guiding us toward balance and wholeness. Through functional genomics and holistic nutrition, I help adults and children uncover what their bodies truly need to restore balance and reconnect with their innate potential to heal and thrive. This is a journey of turning genetic insight into vibrant, purposeful living.

We take an extensive look into your diet and lifestyle. We will review your goals and concerns, your life history and medical history, past and present dietary habits, current and past symptoms, toxin exposure, lifestyle habits, and a guided, visual walk-through of your DNA test findings. We will be uncovering what serves you, what doesn't, and what your body is communicating to you. I specialize in addressing inflammation of all kinds and will create personalized plans of action tailored to your unique needs, presented in small, easy-to-follow steps. I am committed to uncovering underlying health problems and bringing vibrancy and wellness into your life.

Healing is a journey, and in your journey, you have a dedicated ally in health.

I'm so happy you're here!

And there's something I'd like to discuss with you... Inflammation! Amidst all the information you can get your hands on in calming inflammation, there's always something missing from the books, the blogs, and the protocols out there... you!

Did you know that there is a complex network involving your genes and enzyme reactions that initiates and maintains inflammation? It's called the inflammasome. And the way in which it expresses is as unique as your fingerprint. No two people with the same condition have the same needs. In today's modern world, numerous factors make it all too common for this complex system to become chronically activated. And when these self-perpetuating loops occur long-term, they wreak havoc on the body.

There is fascinating research on multiple genetic mutations that intertwine to promote chronic inflammation. Environmental exposures, certain foods, and nutritional deficiencies can also leave us vulnerable to inflammasome activation. And since everything in the body is connected, mutations outside of the inflammasome may very well still influence it to activate. Did you know that mutations in Omega-3 processing genes can convert healthy fish oils into superoxide, a very inflammatory free radical, as opposed to the anti-inflammatory DHA that we're after? Secondarily, this would further promote the inflammasome rather than calm it. In addition to knowing your genetic blueprint, it is also vital to look at dietary and lifestyle habits when addressing inflammation and chronic conditions.

With so many avenues to consider and rabbit holes to traverse, it can feel downright overwhelming to simply feel better! I get it. One-size-fits-all protocols don't work, and diets and supplements can yield confusing results. Even a food as nourishing as blueberries can be a source of crippling migraines for some people with salicylate sensitivities. What I want you to know is that we are all built uniquely, right down to our DNA, our biochemistry, and how we process food. My goal is to understand your unique biology and help guide you into living the life you were destined to flourish in! Not only do we want to look at how you're producing inflammation, but we also want to look at how the systems are in place to both calm things down and rebuild the collateral damage that took place. We want to discover your hidden sources of triggers are that are perpetuating the issue. We're here to do a deep dive together! What you are feeling is not all in your head; your symptoms and feelings are real, and you matter! You deserve to feel vibrant; your body is resilient and built to heal. I believe in you, and I am here to help you in your unique health journey. We've got this!

The resilience of the body is nothing short of incredible. I know, as I've been there myself.

How did I get here?

Research and learning have been lifelong engagements with me. I have an unshakable curiosity about the foundations of why and how things happen, driven by a never-give-up mentality and a knack for transforming complex subjects into simple explanations. To put it simply, I've been a lifelong detective at heart. At the age of 18, enthralled by birds and dinosaurs (and still am), I was certain that my passions and mindset would lead me down the path to becoming a paleontologist or an ornithologist. With an overflowing library of dinosaur documentaries and my paintings and sculptures of Yellow Warblers, and Lesser Birds-of-Paradise, I thought I had it all figured out. I knew who I was going to be.

Then life put me to the test.

A series of insect bites from a two-day trip birding in the marshy habitats in Long Island, NY, would change my life forever. I spent my late teens and most of my 20's sick, incapacitated, and in agony. Doctors visits led to more questions. ER visits resulted in no answers. Repeat urgent care doctors had pulled my parents aside to tell them that I needed psychological help. My primary care physician looked me in the eye and told me, "I give up on you."

For years, it felt like there was no hope. There were no answers. Just an endless sea of questions. How could a previously healthy girl in her early 20's be having grand-mal seizures and walking with a cane, and nobody can tell her what's wrong?

Then came the thoughts about what life will look like going forward. How on earth was I going to dig up Tyrannosaurus bones in the baking sun of the Montana badlands? Or how was I going to be able to do field research in the sagebrush habitats of Colorado to help protect the Gunnison Sage-Grouse? How was I ever going to be a mother?

Enough was enough.

I decided to turn to the one person who will go that extra mile and figure this complicated mess out. And unlike my PCP, I will not be giving up on this case. To my core, I believe there are always answers to uncover, and there are always deep-rooted reasons that things happen. There's always a way to turn things around. My story doesn't end here.

A new practitioner was born.

In my long journey to get to where I am now, new passions were ignited within me, shaping me into the practitioner I am today. Herbalism, homesteading, nutrition, genomics, environmental toxins, and more became topics of insatiable interest. The universe always amazes me with how the twists and turns of life bring you to places you never imagined. The sickness of the past shaped me to be a practitioner who truly gets it. Who understands what life is like when health seems unattainable. Where standard lab testing and imaging, medications, supplements, and extreme diet changes don't yield the results you are desperately seeking.

I've been there. And I'm here to tell you, there is hope. You just need someone who is dedicated to digging deep.

Someone like a wannabe paleontologist.

Someone who knows what it's like to be lost and need guidance, support, and direction. Someone whose passion is to help others step into their health and vitality. And someone who doesn't give up.

I want to understand your story, to help you understand your individual blueprint, and above all, to guide you into living your dreams and aspirations. It starts with partnering with a practitioner who wants to listen and who desires going that extra mile to dig deep. In your story, we uncover the foundational reasons leading to the inflammation you are currently living with, and we begin our journey to healing and wholeness together.

Today, I am proud to say that I am a mother of two beautiful, healthy girls. I am certified in Functional Genomics and Functional Nutrition, and have taken many courses in herbalism, homesteading, and more, along with two decades of research under my belt. Throughout the ups and downs my journey has taken me, I have found my lifelong calling where my detective and research-oriented drive thrives, and it involves you! You are destined to feel better. Let's embark on this journey together.

Let's get you on your path to wellness!
